Sue Shapcott, PGA
 |
Sue is a member of the British PGA. Her playing background includes being a member of the winning British Curtis Cup team in 1988 and holding various national championship titles of England, Wales, Britain, France and Belgium. As a professional, she competed in Europe and Asia. After retiring from play, Sue was recruited by Hank Haney. Sue has been teaching in the US since 2000 and is now a resident of Phoenix. As of January 2008, she calls Desert Mirage her home.
Sue's biggest influence as a teacher is Hank Haney, so students will see some similarity in their teaching philosophy. By putting the emphasis on "Ball Flight Correction" Sue's lessons will follow a format of:
- Identifying your bad shot.
- Diagnosing the direct cause of the bad shot.
- Correcting the mistake and improving the ball-flight.
Sue stresses the instructors need to identify cause and effect in the golf swing, and knowing what each change will do to the ball flight. She does not believe in change for the sake of change – only change that is going to correct a problem with the ball-flight.
Fundamentals will also be addressed throughout the lessons should they need attention. Susan has worked with beginners, club players, LPGA players and European Tour players. Regardless of the student’s experience, she will apply the same diagnostic skills to help the student improve their ball flight, technique and game. Not only does Sue have superior teaching credentials but she brings the expertise of an extensive resume of playing at golf's highest levels.
